Overdose Crisis Response

Since a British Columbia wide public health emergency in April 2016 due to the opioid crisis, Purpose Society has been working to help our neighbours and fellow Canadians who have been exposed to a toxic drug supply while already in their addictions.

Frome the BC Coroners Service:

Too many good people, mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers forever lost in British Columbia’s Opioid health emergency.

Our Health Contact Centre is not only a safe consumption site for people who use IV drugs, but also a place where our neighbours and friends receive compassionate assistance, such as peer support and community referrals to health clinics and counselling services. Drop-in clients also are able to access harm-reduction supplies for both injecting and inhalation/smoking.

For some, it will be a step towards improving their health. For all, a place where people care about them and meet them where they are in life.

Our Mobile Health Van provides harm reduction supplies to those people in neighbouring areas of Metro Vancouver who can’t make it to our main office. The Health Van provides harm reduction supplies, referrals to housing/mental health/detox supports and collecting inappropriately discarded needles within your community.
