YOUth HUBs

The Burnaby Youth Hub is a safe, inclusive space where youth can access a variety of
resources, programs, and services for their personal health, development, and wellbeing.

The Hub, a program of the Lower Mainland Purpose Society, works with a number of dedicated partners to create a community where youth are empowered and supported to be their most engaged, independent, and confident selves.

Burnaby Youth Hub

Description: Offers drop-in support services to at-risk youth. Provides a safe and welcoming environment for youth to learn about community resources, access crisis and goal-orientated counselling, or talk to a youth worker about relevant issues such as alcohol and drug misuse, family conflict, relationships and school. Services include access to teachers, counsellors, youth workers, nurses and doctors, and an emergency food bank. The HUB is operated by the Lower Mainland Purpose Society and our community partners.

Burnaby Youth Hub School

Description: For secondary students who have disengaged or withdrawn from mainstream school, this program provides wrap around support to help students be successful in their academics, socially and emotionally. It is a partnership with the Lower Mainland Purpose Society.

Fraser Health Clinic

Description: Provides free confidential information and education regarding sexuality and health to youth 21 and under. This includes birth control education and some provision, pregnancy testing and decision making, sexually transmitted infection (STI) information, examinations and treatment and HIV education and testing. It is a partnership with the Lower Mainland Purpose Society.

Eligibility:

Age eligibility varies by site.

Free contraception is available up to age 19.

Individuals aged 19 – 21 may obtain up to three months of birth control free; prescription required after initial 3 months. Emergency contraception available to individuals aged 21 and under.
