MacDonald Avenue School Age
This program is located within MacDonald Avenue Children’s Centre that will open on September 1, 2026, in partnership with Burnaby School District. Spaces in the program are offered to children attending Kitchener Elementary School.
*Part-time spaces available by special arrangement based on enrollment at the centre.
With our experienced, energetic, supportive, and creative staff and innovative programming, we will provide your child with an exhilarating learning experience. Your child will experience activities that will foster learning and develop a playful imagination through a variety of activities such as show and tell, “ME time”, science exploration, crafts, and also regular facilitated group meetings with their peers. Your child will have an exciting and fun learning experience, while making new friends and constructing strong relationship with teachers. In addition, our staff is committed to providing open communication to you about your child’s day.

MacDonald Avenue School Age provides children with a variety of activities:
Non-academic activities include:
- Science Day
- Crafts
- Indoor and Outdoor activities
- Multicultural books and videos with activities
Academic activities consist of:
- One to one and group homework assistance
- Silent reading “ME time”

The Centre has applied to participate in the Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative (CCFRI) from September 2026 – March 2027.
Maximum amount(s) the Centre could receive to reduce parent fees for full-time care, per child:
- $320/month – Group care for Kindergarten
- $115/month – Group care for Grade 1 to 12 years old
Part-time enrolments receive a pro-rated amount.

Weekdays Monday to Friday
*7:00 am to 9:00 am & 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
The centre is open from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm on all non-instructional days.
*The centre is closed all statutory holidays, on Easter Monday, and between Christmas and New Year’s Day.
Spring Break programming is determined based on community needs.
The centre may offer a summer program, based on the needs of the community and staff availability.
