Contest overview:
The contest is open to anyone from ages 12-24 who have been, or currently are, in the care of MCFD in the Lower Mainland. The contest is taking place from April 15th – May 30th. Voting for finalists will take place from May 31st to June 3rd on social media through peer voting. Winners will be announced and celebrated on June 4th via Instagram/Facebook. Three winners will receive gift cards of their choosing in amounts of ($150, $100, and $50).
Guidelines:
- Contestants must be between the ages of 12-24, must be youth who have been in the care of MCFD in the Lower Mainland
- No violence, nudity, discriminatory language, or hate symbols – Submissions containing any of these will be disqualified
- Submissions must be original (with the exception of song and dance covers), unpublished content.
- Only one submission per person
- Only one category can be entered
- Only one prize per winning submission
- Finalists will have their submissions posted on social media for the final voting round
- Prizes can be picked up in person at: Purpose Society, 40 Begbie St. New Westminster, BC or mailed to the winners address.
Submission Categories:
Category 1: Poetry
- No more than 2500 double spaced
- All must be original unpublished works
- File must be in .dox form
Category 2: Fine Arts
- Painting, drawing, sculpture, 3D design.
- Minimum size is 8 x 10
Category 3: Media arts
- Between 1.5-4 minutes
- videography, short film, digital drawing/animation
- File must be in .MOV or .mp4 form
- One person per submission (no groups)
- Cannot contain people unless it is yourself, or the people in the video are not recognizable or identifiable.
Category 4: Performing Arts
- Between 1.5-4 minutes
- Original song, dance, cover
- File must be in .MOV or .mp4 form
- One person per submission (no groups)
- Cannot contain people unless it is yourself, or the people in the video are not recognizable or identifiable.

You must upload two photos: a photo of your art and a photo of you holding your art and a piece of ID
